Community Mentoring

Big Brothers & Sisters of Portage County pairs children in need of a mentor ("Littles") with a volunteer ("Big") who makes a commitment to spend 12 hours a month, three or four visits per month, with the child. We ask for a one year commitment.

Bigs and Littles are matched based on their interests, personalities and geographic location as well as preferences they indicate at intake.

Matches (one Big and one Little) get together when it is convenient for them and they do whatever they enjoy -sports, hobbies, cars, cooking, board games, local events, etc.  We offer group activities and many local businesses offer discounts to our Bigs and Littles.
